10 Provinces of Indonesia’s Most Active COVID-19 Cases, DKI ‘Explodes’ Reaching 8 Thousand

Jakarta’s active COVID-19 cases are again high, as of Saturday (25/6) there are eight thousand COVID-19 patients who are still undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, new cases in the capital for the same period recorded an increase of 1,045 cases.

The total number of active cases of COVID-19 nationally was 13,968 people, up 754 from the previous day, Friday (24/6). A significant increase was recorded from the last few weeks, data from the COVID-19 Task Force showed an increase in weekly cases and even reached 105 percent.

Apart from DKI Jakarta, West Java and Banten were the provinces that contributed the most daily COVID-19 cases, namely 325 and 233 cases as of Saturday (25/6). Meanwhile, the 10 largest provinces contributing to active COVID-19 cases or patients being treated or isolated include:

  1. DKI Jakarta: 8,160 cases
  2. West Java: 2,502
  3. Banten: 1,475
  4. Bali: 453
  5. Central Java: 289
  6. East Java: 260
  7. IN Yogyakarta: 167
  8. North Sumatra: 55
  9. South Sumatra: 50
  10. Papua: 50

As previously reported, the Head of Disease Prevention and Control, DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Dwi Oktavia asked the public to be aware of the increase in patients being treated or still isolated.

“We also urge the public to be aware of the transmission of the Omicron variant. 3T efforts will continue to be encouraged, apart from the COVID-19 vaccination, which is also ongoing with a wider scope,” he said in an official statement from the DKI Provincial Government, Saturday (25/6).

The progress of COVID-19 cases over the past week is as follows:

  • Saturday (25/6) 1,045 cases increased
  • Friday (24/6) added 1,226 cases
  • Thursday (23/6) 1,045 cases increased
  • Wednesday (22/6) added 1,226 cases
  • Tuesday (21/6) 953 cases increased
  • Monday (20/6) 701 cases increased
  • Sunday (19/6) 735 cases increased
