1. FC Nürnberg women secure promotion to the Bundesliga in dominant display

In the last game of the 2nd Bundesliga season, 1. FC Nürnberg made promotion to the Bundesliga perfect. In front of 2,500 enthusiastic fans, they defeated the TSG Hoffenheim II team 3-0 and thus secured second place in the promotion table alongside RB Leipzig.

The women from Nuremberg made a dominant appearance from the start. Marina Scholz opened the scoring in the 18th minute and increased it to 2-0 with her second goal in the 62nd minute. This put her team on the road to victory. In the 72nd minute, Nadja Burkard scored the final point after a quick counterattack and made it 3-0.

Promotion to the Bundesliga is a historic moment for the women’s club, as they have only played top-flight in the 1999/2000 season. They have been active in the 2nd women’s Bundesliga since 2021 and have now been able to celebrate promotion thanks to continuous development.

Coach Osman Cankaya (photo) was proud of his team and emphasized the strong performance that led to success. 1. FC Nürnberg will be represented again in the coming season in Germany’s highest women’s soccer league.
