Yonsei University’s Cho Phillips and Hanyang University’s Professor Joseph Lee, who in fact expressed sympathy to Ramsayer’s Harvard University professor’s claim that’comfort women are prostitutes’.
The two are controversial figures who made similar arguments in the past through university lectures and overseas media contributions.
Historians have pointed out that it is unacceptable to shout for academic freedom without a human rights perspective.

Last November, 2019, Hanyang University political science class.
It has been argued that Professor Joseph Lee turned Korean historians studying comfort women into “nationalist liars.”
“Korean scholars did not use quantitative research, but generalized the entire comfort women by paying attention to the worst case of only 5-10 people.”
Professor Lee Young-hoon, who claimed that “there was no compulsory detention of comfort women,” is known to have praised him for bringing a new paradigm shift.
The students immediately rebelled.
Despite the existence of a large number of victims and proving war crimes through various studies, he requested an apology for contemplating the victims and distorting history.
Not only this.
In a joint contributor to overseas media, the two professors argued that “The Moon Jae-in administration is suppressing freedom of expression by censoring voices questioning the statements of comfort women victims.”
It also linked’anti-Japanese sentiment’ with the trade conflict between Korea and Japan.
However, their arguments are being pointed out that the basic’human rights’ perspective is missing.
Just because academic freedom does not allow slavery or Nazi war crimes in Germany to be tolerated.

The criticism that the two professors are committing secondary harassment to the victims of comfort women is also a part that the two professors should listen to.
