A serious traffic accident occurred on Münsterstrasse (B51) on Monday afternoon in which a motorcyclist was critically injured. At around 3:20 p.m., a 65-year-old Warendorfer was driving his motorcycle on the B51 between Glandorf and Ostbevern when he had to stop at a red-light construction site about a kilometer from the border. A subsequent driver of a Mercedes van, a 78-year-old man from Telgte, noticed the traffic situation too late for unknown reasons and drove almost unchecked towards the waiting motorcyclist. The 65-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries from the impact and was flown by a rescue helicopter to a hospital in Osnabrück after receiving first aid. The person who caused the accident got away with the horror. By order of the public prosecutor’s office, both vehicles were confiscated and the scene of the accident was recorded true to scale using a special measuring process. The federal highway 51 is completely closed for the recording of accidents, the towing work and the cleaning of the lane of operating materials up to the hour.
