45468 MH- Eppinghofen: In the night from Friday to Saturday (Saturday, August 1st, 2020 at around 1:20 a.m.), an apparently drunk man mobbed nocturnal passers-by on Eppinghofer Straße. After citizens spoke to them, the officials observed how the 32-year-old man, who was registered in Mülheim, loudly and apparently indiscriminately, approached pedestrians. The two policewomen and their colleague stepped in near the roundabout on Sandstrasse and stopped the man. Since he did not comply with the officers’ requests and was hostile to them, they handcuffed the man and searched his pockets for identification papers. When the identity check ended and the man was given the opportunity to leave the area calmly, he disregarded the offer and the additional pronounced “expulsion”. With simple physical violence, the officers initially brought the man, who remained unruly, into custody in Essen. The detainee tried unsuccessfully to prevent his stay there by swallowing a finger ring. Even the kicks in the patrol car against a policewoman could be ended with a few targeted punches. After a short stay in hospital, where the ring was brought to light again and its detention capacity was confirmed, he spent the next few hours under police observation to sober up and calm down./Peke
