45133 E.-Stadtwald: On Saturday afternoon (May 30th) there was a violent collision between a 58-year-old racing cyclist and the 93-year-old pedestrian on the route on Wittekindstrasse / Wittenbergstrasse. At around 11.30 a.m., the racing cyclist drove in a group on the bicycle route towards Rüttenscheid. When driving up, he noticed the pedestrian was too late, tried to evade, but then hit the 93-year-old’s shoulder with his bike. Both fell to the ground. The racing cyclist suffered several abrasions, the pedestrian was seriously injured from the fall. An ambulance first treated the 93-year-old on site and then took her to a hospital. The police ask for mutual consideration! The bicycle routes are full, especially when the weather is nice. Dangerous situations often arise at one point or another between cyclists, walkers, joggers or other athletes. Please be considerate of each other. If necessary, road users have to stop for a moment or swerve to let someone else drive past or overtake them. In the best case scenario, dangerous situations will not even arise, let alone accidents or injuries. / YH
