Zurich: Church turns into anti-homophobia standard – Switzerland

Hundreds of people demonstrated on Saturday in favor of the anti-homophobia standard voted on February 9. Highlight of the event: a huge rainbow flag placed on one of the Grossmünster towers in Zurich.

According to the organizers, around 3,000 demonstrators marched in Zurich at 1 p.m. Saturday. They campaign in this way for the Swiss to slip a yes in the ballot box in favor of the introduction of the anti-homophobia standard in three weeks.

Several same-sex couples were recently assaulted in the evening in Zurich. This demonstration is a signal sent to the LGBT community so that they do not allow themselves to be intimidated, said the national committee “yes to protection against discrimination”, which was one of ten actions organized in favor yes by February 9.

On this occasion, a huge rainbow flag was installed on the north tower of the Grossmünster. “We are very happy with the support of the Reformed Church and this new public demonstration,” said Eva Kaderli, co-organizer of the event and co-president of the Zwischenraum association. (Ps / nxp)
