ZTE and China Unicom Sign 6G Development Agreement Reedus

Chinese telecommunications giant ZTE, known to users for its smartphones, and China Unicom have signed a 6G strategic agreement. This was stated by ZTE.

When the first smartphones supporting work in the fifth generation networks began to appear last year, they were something unusual. And now every flagship smartphone has an integrated 5G modem. Even conservative Apple is rumored to introduce an iPhone 12 with a dual-band 5G modem this year. In addition, budget smartphones with support for fifth-generation networks have already begun to appear.

Although it’s still too early to say 5G in China or the USA, 5G is expected to be launched in Russia in 2022–2023 in Russia, 6G networks are already being developed. So ZTE together with China Unicom entered into a long-term partnership in the development of sixth generation networks. Under the agreement, ZTE and China Unicom will fully demonstrate the innovative benefits of 6G. Companies will explore the prospects and specifications of 6G.

ZTE and China Unicom will conduct joint research on potential key 6G technologies, as well as test the applicability of these technologies using prototypes and tests, hoping to achieve 6G network performance targets. It is reported that the peak data transfer rate in the sixth generation networks will be 1 Tbit per second, the user speed in turn will be 20 Gbit per second, and the volume bandwidth is 100 Gbit per second.

Talking about the launch time of 6G is still too early, because it is still not even known when 5G networks will be available to everyone.
