Zorggroep Ter Weel opens a department for people with Parkinson’s in Goes | NOW

Zorggroep Ter Weel has opened a new department for people with Parkinson’s disease in Goes. Abbekinderspark is a small residential group for eight people.

The new department is part of the Abbekindershof somatic department in Ter Weel at the Joannaplantsoen in Goes.

Specialized employees work at the Abbekinderspark, who ensure that medication is given on time and that PwPs exercise daily. People with Parkinson’s can experience tremors, difficulty moving, memory and sleep problems and hallucinations.

According to physiotherapist Ankie Adjustle, this department has all the knowledge and expertise needed to care for people with Parkinson’s disease. The department also works together with the neurologist and Parkinson’s nurse from the Admiraal de Ruyter Hospital in Goes.
