BVRobin Pront (37) and Charlotte Timmers (35) are getting married. The ‘Zillion’ director makes this known in ‘OEP Z’N BAKKES’, a popular podcast about martial arts. During the conversation, Robin explains how he asked Charlotte the question, although his proposal did not go as planned at all. “That was not romantic at all,” the director laughed.
Robin Pront and Charlotte Timmers recently stayed in Thailand. In an earlier interview, the ‘Zillion’ director already indicated that he would like to spend the winter in the Asian country, but Robin also learned the arts of martial arts there and trained intensively. When asked in the podcast what his ‘most memorable moment’ was in Thailand, Pedro Elias – one of the panelists – suddenly remarked: “If I understood correctly, you will marry Charlotte Timmers and you will have carried out a ‘sort of’ marriage proposal?”
Pront indeed confirmed that he proposed to his girlfriend. However, his proposal did not go as expected. “That was really a joke,” he said. “I had already been there (in Thailand, ed.) 10 years ago and then there was a romantic beach that I often went to with Charlotte. So I thought there. I should have smuggled the ring in first, because Charlotte is the most curious person ever and so sweet to unload my suitcase most of the time. That’s why I had hidden that ring in the pocket of my goggles. Because I knew she would never use it.”
“Not romantic at all”
Robin knew well why he wanted to ask the question at that exact location. “I wanted to propose on that beach where we had such a good time 10 years ago. I lured her with the scooter and we arrived there at sunset,” he continued. “But then I saw that the beach was disgustingly dirty and full of litter. There were also bulldozers building a hotel. That was not romantic at all. And then I thought, let it be. Finally I asked our resort. I should have let go of that whole moment in my head.”
The question is of course: did Charlotte say a resounding ‘Yes’? “She said: ‘I knew it’”, laughs Robin. “Because I was so nervous that she was starting to realize something.” When the wedding will take place, Robin and Charlotte have not yet decided: “We don’t know yet and we still have to schedule.”
