Zidane Did Not Intend To Continue To Train Madrid

Madrid

Zinedine Zidane did not see himself as a Real Madrid coach for the next 20 years. He plans to retire sooner.

Zidane was appointed as Madrid coach in January 2016 after previously handling Real Madrid Castilla since 2014. He had resigned in May 2018 after leading Madrid to win the Champions League title.

But Zidane returned to Madrid as coach in March 2019. He replaced Santiago Solari who failed to lift the performance of Los Blancos.

Despite great success while dealing with Madrid, by presenting 10 trophies including three Champions League titles, Zidane has no plans to become a coach. According to him, being a Madrid coach was draining.

“I will not train for 20 years. I will retire before that,” Zidane said as reported ESPN.

“I’m an unusual coach, anything can happen. I’m not planning anything. A day-to-day trip that makes me excited. For how long, I don’t know.”

“In my head, I have always been a player. I played for 18 or 19 years, and after that when people asked me if I would be a coach, I said no. Then I decided to become a coach.”

“It’s really tiring. I won’t be a coach for 20 years, that’s for sure,” he said.
