Former first assistant to the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and co-founder of Kvartal 95 Sergey Shefir stated that he did not agree with his brother’s position Boris Shefir, – he expressed the opinion that “we need to be friends” with Russia. Related comment LIGA.net made PR-service “Kvartala”.
Earlier, Boris Shefir, in an interview with Radio Liberty, said that he does not communicate with the president, including because they have a “conflict of interest” in matters of language and politics.
“<...> I speak Russian. I love the Russian language, Russian culture. I cannot watch how monuments to Pushkin are being destroyed in the country. For me this is stupidity. If I were near [с Зеленским], I would say: “Let’s wrap this up and let’s be friends.” But there are completely different attitudes there,” he said then, adding that “it would be great to be friends with Russia again.”
Sergei Shefir stated that he “categorically disagrees with his brother’s position,” since “Russia is an aggressor and terrorist country that started a war against our country.”
“Russia and personally Putin must be held accountable for crimes committed against Ukrainians. Ukraine needs peace. And the formula for this world is clearly stated by Vladimir Zelensky. His actions as the President of Ukraine, which he is taking for our victory, I support as a citizen and friend,” he said.
- In 2019, Boris Shefir said in an interview Detektor Mediathat the language law should be repealed, and with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin – agree to end the war.
