President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called a logical decision National Security and Defense Council on new sanctions, and also called on local authorities to help businesses along with increasing quarantine.

“We expect and support the introduction of sanctions against individuals from Europe, the United States or other international partners, so this decision by the NSDC can be described in two words – logical and strange,” Zelensky said.

According to the president, the decision seems strange because no sanctions have been imposed since 2014.

The head of state also called on representatives of local authorities to develop a set of measures to support citizens and businesses during a lockdown in the regions.

“It is logical that local authorities should also think about various forms of support, introducing a lockdown on the ground. Along with the strengthening of quarantine, they should develop a set of measures to support categories of citizens and businesses in their particular region, which may suffer due to the restrictions of the so-called red I am waiting for the relevant proposals from the local authorities so that they can be considered and approved at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine next week, “Zelensky said.
