–>–From Wednesday November 11, the foresters began work in the forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines).
During his last Facebook live, the mayor from Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines), Arnaud Pericard, explained all the harm he thought of the attitude of theNational Forestry Office (ONF) and D’Île-de-France Mobility in the file of tree cuts.
The project, whose importance we revealed on our site on November 5, aims to cut down trees to a depth of 30 meters around the route of the Tram 13 Express in forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
This operation, carried out by the ONF on behalf of Île-de-France Mobilités, aims to create “a tiered forest edge”.
A meeting on Saturday, November 21
Faced with the outcry (see box) caused by this work, the mayor decided to organize an on-site meeting with all the stakeholders (ONF, Île-de-France Mobilités, associations, etc.) on Saturday 21 November.
The chosen one certainly thought that the cuts to begin this Monday, November 16 would be suspended pending the meeting.
But, to everyone’s surprise, the foresters were hard at work to start work on Wednesday, November 11, a public holiday.
Branches were cut in particular on large trees located near the Tram 13 tracks. According to the ONF, it was “to proceed with the opening of logging roads”, according to the ONF.
“This poses a certain difficulty for me”
“Me, I want to call meetings, but if we do the work even though the mayor asks that there be a moratorium and a working meeting on the subject, that poses a certain difficulty to me. It’s a complicated subject at the moment ”
And the mayor to indicate that this meeting would aim to obtain “from Île-de-France Mobilités and the ONF, the maximum guarantees. “
Opponents do not disarm
The opponents of this project do not disarm. After the association Together for the environment of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and its region (EPESG), it is the turn of the Collective of associations for the defense of the environment in the loops of Seine / Saint- Germain-en-Laye (Cadeb) to launch into the battle and position himself against the project. Just like the EPESG, the association has initiated a free appeal against the decree authorizing the work with the prefect of Yvelines, Jean-Jacques Brot. The local group Seine Ouest Europe Écologie Les Verts (EÉLV) also denounced this project.
