YouTube is copying Netflix: users now have to be prepared for this hated feature

YouTube users have been given a new function on the video platform. However, this should cause many heads to shake. Because competitor Netflix has already caused angry users. You can find out what you need to know now here.

The video platform YouTube is taking a bold step. With a new feature, many users could be offended. It’s about previewing videos. So far, these short clips always run when a user switches to the video with the selection. The preview ran without sound, but that has now changed.

For everyone who uses YouTube on Android TV or Fire TV, the preview clips are now played with sound. This can quickly become annoying, as millions of Netflix users had already noticed when the streaming service introduced the feature some time ago. But now YouTube is also daring to take this step.

YouTube does the same to Netflix: new feature soon on all platforms?

The function is still limited to the systems mentioned. There shouldn’t be any cacophony of preview clips there either. Because here the users can only select one video at a time using the remote control. When using YouTube on the PC, however, this could quickly become annoying. If you were to move the mouse over the screen here, all preview clips could jump to and play their sound.

Perhaps those responsible behind YouTube want to test the feedback with the introduction on the smart TVs. In addition, users still have the option to switch off the feature. To do this, switch to the settings of the YouTube app and deactivate “Preview with sound” there. The preview clips in the app are already silent again.

YouTube draws the line: the free offer is significantly restricted
