Kozhikode: Two persons have been arrested on the complaint that they stopped a doctor and his female friend by car and threatened them, used bad language and insulted them by showing obscene gestures. Hajnas from Kakur and Parakal Sajeesh Kumar from Narikuni were arrested. Hajnas is an accused facing trial in the gold smuggling case. The two were arrested during a joint investigation conducted by the Medical College Police and the City Crime Squad.
Last night, when the doctor and his female friend were coming in their car, they stopped them near the bridge. The complaint is that he insulted and threatened with bad language and obscene gestures. The investigation was led by Medical College Police Inspector Benny Lalu on the instructions of Deputy Police Commissioner KE Baiju.
The investigation started focusing on the registration number of the scooter that the youths were traveling in when they intercepted the doctor’s car. However, the owner of the registration certificate, a resident of Kayalam, Kozhikode, pawned the vehicle, which set back the investigation. Meanwhile, the investigation focused on Saneesh and Alex Varghese, natives of Thamarassery, belonging to the drug gang of Ajit Varghese, who was caught with nine kilos of ganja, turned the corner.
It was tipped off that a scooter from Kayalam was pawned for Rs 10,000 to a young man who had been convicted in a ganja case in Andhra and has now returned home. Investigation revealed that he had pledged this vehicle to another person who was incarcerated with him in the Andhra Jail in a ganja case. The scooter seized by Ajith Varghese’s group from him was handed over to around 10 people and came into the hands of the group that currently detained the doctor.
From the drug case to the murder case, the investigation team found and interrogated the accused in one day and reached the accused in the case of attacking the doctor and his female friend.
