Youth parties do not want a new cabinet with Rutte | Politics

The letter is an initiative of the Young Democrats (D66), PerspectieF (ChristenUnie), DWARS (GroenLinks), the Young Socialists (PvdA), Opposition (DENK) and PINK! (Animal party). The CDA youth did not put their name under the letter, although they did make a similar appeal to the CDA on Friday.

The CDJA says it still supports the call not to negotiate with Rutte about a new government, but finds the letter too much of an appeal to the VVD about what that party should do. That is “not up to us,” said a spokesman.

The leaked note from the exploration, which showed that Rutte had spoken about the critical CDA MP Pieter Omtzigt, led to a fierce debate last week. In their letter, the youth organizations speak of “an embarrassing week in which democracy has been hit immeasurably”.

“If the VVD does not take parliament seriously, it will seal the fate of Dutch politics. Then we think that only a formation remains without them, or the ballot box. ”
