Young woman ends up injured after several balconies collapse in Havana – 2024-04-10 21:24:44

A young Cuban woman ended up injured on the night of this Thursday, April 4, after several balconies collapsed in the capital municipality of Centro Habana and debris fell on her.

According to journalist Mario J. Pentón, the incident occurred at the intersection of Gervasio and San Lázaro streets, and the young woman was taken to a hospital aboard a car that was nearby.

“The entire eaves fell, taking down all the balconies on the first floor. Until now, a girl who was passing by just at that moment was injured in a car and debris fell on her,” reads the description of the video shared by the communicator.

At the moment, it is unknown if the event left more people injured, but images circulating on social networks show that several residents of the building were evacuated after the collapse. Likewise, the building had lights on the second floor, from where the balconies fell.

This incident once again reveals the precarious situation in which the buildings on the Island find themselves, especially those in the capital, where the maintenance they need is not carried out.

The situation was criticized by the citizens of the Island, who do not understand why the city is falling apart while the regime concentrates on building more hotels.

“Cuba is falling apart and they continue making hotels”; “They don’t care about those constructions, their thing is to build hotels to steal money” and “Cuba is collapsing and sinking, and those clowns building hotels and more hotels for their personal gain,” were just some of the comments.

Just a few weeks ago, another collapse was reported in a multifamily building located in Habana Vieja, where three people were trapped in the building.

The state press indicated that the rescue forces had to appear at number 110 San Isidro Street, between Habana and Damas, to help remove the trapped people. Likewise, they assured that none of the victims suffered serious injuries.
