“You can understand why they were afraid to complain against him”

Two days before the network star Elad Levy was arrested, two 16-year-old girls filed complaints against him with the police for sexual assault and rape – this is what Mako learned. The two girls submitted their complaints to the crime fighting unit of the Yarkon Region Police.

“Most of the complainants were afraid to complain against Levy because of his status and power on social media. He is a very well-known figure. There is a kind of bitterness here. It took them a while to muster up the courage to complain against him,” explained a police official, who noted that the complainants had no previous acquaintance. “There is no connection between the complainants. Each of them has a different story about what the suspect did to them.”

“There are complainants who were sexually assaulted by Levi when they were 16, 17 years old,” added the officer. “They were innocent girls and he used his power to harm them sexually. You can understand why they were afraid to complain against him.”

The acts attributed to Levy occurred in the last three years, with the exception of one case in 2015. So far, seven complaints have been filed against Levy, four of them within the last two months.

Levy was interrogated by BLP Yarkon. During the investigation he denied that he raped or sexually assaulted the complainants. The police are investigating a suspicion that Levy threatened some of the complainants after they complained against him to the police.

The investigator revealed in court that one of the complainants presented evidence to the investigators that Levy had threatened her. Levy, for his part, denied that he contacted the complainants or threatened them. “I am ready to undergo a polygraph test to prove that I am telling the truth,” claimed Levy in his defense. “I did not rape any of them. I had consensual sex with some of them. One of them published a video with which she wanted to extort money from me. I am ready to confront them and prove that I did not do anything under duress.”

Levy said in his police investigation that one of the minor complainants sent a photo of her identity card to his WhatsApp, which shows that she is over 18 years old, in order to enter the club where he spent time in the Tel Aviv port.

One of the complainants claimed in her testimony to the police that Levy spent time with her, doused her in alcohol, then took her to a hotel in Tel Aviv and took advantage of the fact that she was ambiguous to rape her. Police officials confirmed that Levy’s version is being examined in depth, including his request to undergo a polygraph test.

The investigators intend to confront Levy with the complainants. The offenses attributed to Levy are on grounds prohibited by consent, sodomy and denial of the capacity to resist. Levy’s defense attorney, attorney Shai Shurer, denied the suspicions against him and demanded that the investigation team check his version. Levy’s detention was extended yesterday at the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court by seven days.
