After it was announced on Facebook the official announcement of the launch of Rooms o Rooms in Mexico so that users could make video calls of up to 50 people in these moments when social distancing is essential. Likewise, WhatsApp also released this function to be able to integrate or create a room with more users from the application.
At the time, WhatsApp did not give details about when the integration with Messenger Rooms would come to the web and desktop version, and surprisingly, users from all over the world can now make video calls through WhatsApp Web.
WhatsApp Web and Messenger Rooms come together
We should not confuse the integration with Messenger Rooms as the option to make video calls on WhatsApp Web, since at the moment it is still not possible to make or answer a call or video call from WhatsApp Web or from the desktop, so this new option all it does is create the room or allow us to join it, but as we mentioned, the session will be done on Facebook Messenger.
How to make video calls in Messenger Rooms from WhatsApp Web
- The first thing you should do is log into WhatsApp Web or the desktop version for Windows or Mac.
- Now, click on any chat or group, it does not matter if they will not be the participants with whom you want to make the video call.
- Click on the attached files clip and then select the “Room” option, which appears with a blue camera icon.
- At that moment a menu will appear on the screen with the option “Go to Messenger”, click on that option to go to the other messaging platform and create the room.
- Once you create the room you can share the link so that others can join your video call.

Let’s also remember that Messenger rooms are not end-to-end encrypted like WhatsApp video calls, but Facebook promises privacy and security, as they say they will not be reviewing user conversations.
