“Any attempt to steal, to change history, to divide the characters into strangers and one’s own is an insult to their memory and a very severe sentence for those who dare to do so. Bulgaria will not allow it, it will keep its history clean and holy. We will not accept the language of hatred and our firm position is already heard in Europe. “This was stated by Vice President Iliana Yotova in front of the monument to Gotse Delchev in the village of Popovi Livadi, where the 118th anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhensko uprising was celebrated.

The Vice President commented on the resolution adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, which she said would not help in the process of clarifying the positions between the two countries, at a time when the dialogue between Sofia and Skopje began to develop.

“118 years the majestic Pirin and this sacred land shelter the glorious history of the greatness of the Bulgarian ideal, the memorable days of the early 20th century, when implacable Bulgarians went to their Golgotha to win the coveted freedom and unity, continued the ideology of Bulgarian national liberation movement with the only thought – freedom and unity of the Bulgarian people.

Freedom, which they barely touched and the cuts of the Great Powers took away from them “, pointed out Iliana Yotova and pointed out that with their self-sacrifice these ordinary people remained forever in the pantheon of Bulgarian national heroes. The Vice President stressed that we are indebted to our children because we do not tell them enough about these characters and events. “The light of the characters will never go out and we must ignite it for generations to come,” said Iliana Yotova.

“The way is not in self-directed opposition, but in dialogue and the real settlement of disputes. We are indebted to our children and their future, “said the Vice President, citing the successful cross-border partnership between Gotse Delchev Municipality and Greece and the Republic of Northern Macedonia. One of the current projects is related to the student camp in the village of Popovi Livadi.

“Transfiguration means a new beginning and hope. As the heroes of the Ilinden-Preobrazhensko uprising demanded a new beginning and change, so we today strive for this – change, a new beginning, the Bulgarian state and the Bulgarian people to prosper, “said Iliana Yotova.
