Yoo Ah In tested positive for cannabis use. The shocking news from the Korean drama Hellbound players was revealed after Yoo Ah In was accused of taking illegal drugs.
Previously, rumors circulated that an actor was taking the banned drug propofol on a daily basis. It was later revealed that Yoo Ah In had been undergoing police investigations into these allegations since Monday (6/2/2023).
According to TV Chosun’s report, Yoo Ah In is considered to have violated the Narcotics Act. The police even banned Yoo Ah In from leaving his country South Korea. After touring several hospitals to find him.
Yoo Ah In’s agency, the United Artist Agency, also issued an official statement to confirm the news of his artist’s investigation into allegations of consuming the banned drug propofol.
“Yoo Ah In recently investigated by the police regarding propofol. He is currently undergoing all investigations regarding this case, and we plan to carefully explain any issues that may arise. We apologize for causing any inconvenience,” the UAA said in a statement.
Propofol is a type of drug that is considered illegal in South Korea. The drug is classified as a psychotropic and should not be consumed or prescribed other than for treatment requiring anesthesia.
Yoo Ah In Positive for Marijuana
After passing the police investigation, Yoo Ah In reportedly tested positive for using marijuana on Friday (10/2/2023). The 36-year-old actor is actually negative for propofol as previously reported.
According to a narcotics expert’s statement to the Hankook Ilbo, the propofol content had left his body after four days. And Yoo Ah In was suspected of using marijuana recently.
“Cannabis THC did not show up in tests 7 to 10 days after use. Looks like he had recently used marijuana.”
Now the police are reported to be continuing their investigation into Yoo Ah In’s drug case. On the other hand, Korean netizens are discussing the possible bad impact on Yoo Ah In’s co-star in the Korean drama Goodbye Earth following the controversy.
Yoo Ah In will star in the drama directed by Netflix, Goodbye Earth, which is scheduled to air in late 2023. The actor co-stars with Ahn Eun Jin and Kim Yoon Hye in a drama that tells the lives of people nearing the apocalypse.
