Paredes de Coura City Council wants to invest around 2.5 million euros in the expansion of the Formariz industrial park area, given the interest of new companies, attracted by the construction of access to Highway 3 (A3).

“A3’s new link to Formariz’s industrial park has made it possible to capture new companies that will allow diversification of industrial activities beyond the automotive and footwear sectors, and the start of job creation linked to research, knowledge and technology, ”said Mayor of Paredes de Coura, Vitor Paulo Pereira.

At stake is the creation of a road access, claimed two decades ago, with about 8.8 kilometers, to link the Formariz business park in Paredes de Coura to the A3 (Sapardos – Vila Nova de Cerveira node), in the district of Viana do Castelo.

The new access represents “an investment of 9.5 million euros, 85% supported by the IP budget and the remaining 15% by the municipality, which will assume about 800 thousand euros for expropriations”.

Speaking to Lusa, regarding the publication in Diário da República (DR) of an order of the Minister of the Environment declaring the “Relevant Public Interest (RIP)” of the construction of the road link of that industrial park to A3, which Infraestrutura de Portugal plans to start “in the second quarter”, the socialist mayor explained that the projected expansion “is practically sold out”.

The deputy mayor, Tiago Cunha, explained to Lusa that the investment in the expansion and requalification of the Formariz business park, which will grow 7.5 hectares, was applied at the end of December for community funds, estimating a decision on the your approval by the end of this month.

Tiago Cunha said that the business park “currently has an area of ​​24.8 hectares and, with the expected expansion, will reach 32.8 hectares”.

“The candidate intervention foresees the creation of 65 new lots, of which 62 will be destined for industrial occupation and three for green spaces and equipment,” he said.

For more than three decades, local authorities and businessmen in the region have been demanding the construction of this access to promote the competitiveness of companies located in that business area, such as the Kyaia Group, a Portuguese footwear company (owner of the Fly London and Foreva brands). , implemented in Paredes de Coura for over 25 years and with 250 workers.

They also claim access to Doureca, from the Dourdin Group, in the automotive sector, which has two production plants and employs about 300 workers, ValverIbérica and ValverPortugal, which produce plastics and accessories for the automotive industry. workers, the Transcoura group, which employs 130 people.
