Yamaha already has a plan if Valentino Rossi back absent at European MotoGP 2020 because of the corona virus. The Japanese factory team will field Jorge Lorenzo as a substitute racer.
Until now, Rossi’s participation in the 2020 MotoGP, 6-8 November, is still in doubt. The Doctor still has to undergo a corona virus test and must be tested negative 72 hours before arriving at the Valencia Circuit paddock.
Rossi’s motorhome truck has reportedly arrived at the Valencia Circuit, but until now Yamaha has not confirmed The Doctor’s participation in MotoGP 2020. Even so, the Japanese team already has a plan B.
Quoted from Tuttomotoriweb, Yamaha was forced to have a replacement racer if Rossi could not appear. Jorge Lorenzo is believed to be a replacement for Rossi at the 2020 European MotoGP if the Italian racer is absent.

Lorenzo is a better choice for Yamaha than Katsuyuki Nakasuga, because the Japanese racer has not appeared in MotoGP since the 2018 Japanese GP. Meanwhile, Lorenzo’s last race took place at the Valencia MotoGP 2019.
Lorenzo himself is currently negotiating with Aprilia. However, the three-time MotoGP world champion still chooses Yamaha as the top priority.
Rossi himself has been absent in two series at the Aragon and Teruel MotoGP due to being positive for the corona virus. During Rossi’s absence in the last two series, Yamaha decided not to appoint a replacement racer.
