Mustapha Beidoudan is perhaps one of the few names that has been with the giants of Morocco, Raja and Wydad Casablanca, as the Moroccan striker was able to immortalize his name in the history of the league, especially after he won the competition’s top scorer award on three previous occasions.
Despite Baydhan’s professional debut with Raja Casablanca, he denied the Green team the Moroccan League title in the 2010 edition after scoring the winning goal and the championship against Al-Fateh Rabat.
“Yallakora” contacted the former Moroccan striker to talk to him about his experience in the two giants of Casablanca, as well as his opinion about the chances of Raja and Wedad from competing with the Egyptian football poles Al-Ahly and Zamalek for the CAF Champions League title.
Here are the details of the dialogue as follows:
In the beginning, how was your career, especially while you were with Wydad and Raja?
My start was as an amateur player with the Association of the Ministry of Finance, then I moved to the Al-Fateh Rabati sports team, and I got with them the top scorer in the Moroccan League with 17 goals in the season (1999 – 2000), and then I moved to the Raja Casablanca team. This experience is a success for me, and I crowned them with a cup. The African Confederation and the local championship (Moroccan League), in addition to winning the Moroccan Throne Cup, as well as winning the Arab Cup after beating Enppi in the final, and I also got the top scorer in the league twice, specifically in my seasons (2002 – 2003) (2003 – 2004). Praise be to God, my experience with Raja A successful experience, then I moved outside Morocco to participate with the Russian Rostov teams and the Saudi and African Tunisian teams, and after my experience with the African I moved to Wydad Casablanca and it was an adventure and a challenge for me because the situation is like Egypt through moving to Al-Ahly and leaving to Zamalek, especially since I have close relations with the hope side, My move to Wydad made me under great pressure. I played with the friendly team for three years, with whom I won the league title in 2010, and we also reached the Arab Cup final twice, but we had no luck in front of Esperance and ES Setif, Algeria. I am considered one of the few players who have succeeded with both Raja and Wydad, and I thank the two teams, as I with Raja scored against Wydad, and also with Wydad, I scored against Raja.
Which match do you remember so far and which goal is your greatest worth?
Difficult to choose a match. I had crucial matches especially with Raja. I remember the Sudanese Al Hilal match in the Arab Cup quarter-finals, and Hilal was at that time one of the strongest favorites to win the title, especially as it won over Wydad in Morocco. In Morocco, it ended with a score of (5-0) and in the second leg in Omdurman ended with a goalless draw, and this match is still well-established in our minds. As for Wydad, I remember the goal that helped us get the league title, and this match is my last encounter where hope was superior. We had to rank before the last round by a point difference and the fate was not in our hands, so we needed to win while waiting for the defeat of Raja, praise be to God, I scored the winning goal against the Al-Fateh Sports team, in contrast, the Raja team in Rabat was defeated by its opponent, the Royal Army, with a goal without a response, and we won the title at the time.
How were your matches against Egyptian clubs, specifically against Al-Ahly and Zamalek?
I did not face Zamalek during my career, but I faced Al-Ahly in 2004 in the Arab Cup, which is the title team, because it is the club of the century, and it was an honor for me to face Al-Ahly, and with the team Wydad, I did not write to confront Zamalek, but all the appreciation and respect for the old clubs such as Al-Ahly and Zamalek for the offers they made In competitions.
In your opinion, how did you see the Wydad and Raja competition for the Moroccan League title this season?
Frankly, the competition was strong, especially since the three-way struggle for the Moroccan league title between Raja, Wydad and Nahdet Berkane, I believe, and in light of the previous data, the title would have been decided at the end of the Moroccan League.
From your point of view, are Wydad and Raja able to challenge Al-Ahly and Zamalek in the Champions League?
The chances are equal between the four teams to get the African title, four teams have a great history on the continent, Al-Ahly is the most crowned team, followed by Zamalek, in addition to the experience and experiences gained by the Wydad team, specifically in the last five years through winning the title as well as reaching the final rounds in the African championship, The Raja team also has players who make the difference in addition to their possession of African experience, while Al-Ahly has 8 titles and great experience in the African championships in contrast to Zamalek. I think the departure of French Patrice Carteron will be difficult for the team, but the presence of Ashraf Bencharqi and Mohamed Onajem and the team’s possession of distinguished players will contribute to the strengthening of the team and this is what We saw him in the African Super Championship and the victory over Tunisia’s Esperance, so it was difficult to determine the team closest to winning the tournament because the confrontations are difficult for each party.
In your opinion, Al-Ahly’s contract with Pitso Musimane will be useful to the team before the Wydad signing?
I think that any coach will be happy when he has distinguished players, because when the coach has distinguished players, there will be no problem with the coach, perhaps the problem is in creating harmony and I think that Al-Ahly players have professionalism about their players to harmonize with the new style and seasonal thinking, also what distinguishes Al-Ahly Professionalism We do not hear, for example, the existence of material problems in the team, and for Musimane, he has African experience and there is no fear for the Al-Ahly team through the presence of the management and distinguished players.
Do you think what are the main weapons of Al-Ahly and Zamalek against Wydad and Al-Raja?
As for Al-Ahly, I watched some matches. They possess the spirit of the group and their strength in the group, but I see that Walid Suleiman and Junior Ajay can make the difference. In my opinion, the most prominent weapon in Al-Ahly collectively, as for Zamalek, I watched many matches, so the team’s most dangerous weapon is the offensive force, starting with Youssef Ibrahim “Obama” I like this player very well, along with the duo Ashraf Bencharki and Mohamed Onajem, who helped Wydad win the Champions League title before, and I also like Zamalek’s midfield, specifically Tunisian Ferjani Sassi, as he creates spaces for his team and the strength of Zamalek in his group as well.
Zamalek’s situation is not different from Al-Ahly through the appointment of Jimmy Pacheco … your comment?
It is possible that Pacheco’s taking over at this stage may not, and here the most important point is the personality of the players, I think that the departure of Patrice Carteron to cooperate (betrayal) because he has great players and abandoned the team, but Zamalek does not stand for a coach or a player and also Zamalek has a respectable president and loves the team, which is Mortada. Mansour and I think that there is no fear for Zamalek in the event of Mortada Mansour, and the players of Zamalek must be mentally present in harmony with the thinking of the new coach before facing hope.
Finally … Your expectations Who will be the team closest to winning the Champions League?
As a Moroccan principle, I hope that the final will be Moroccan between Wydad and Raja, just like you as Egyptians, but football is different. We speak with emotion, but it is difficult to predict which team will win because the levels are close between the four teams, and in the end I hope a Moroccan team wins the title, but the most deserving and worthy and deserving of it will win the final.
