In search of revolutionizing the smartphone market, Xiaomi revealed at the end of 2019 the Mi MIX Alpha, a new smartphone concept equipped with an immersive screen. Since then, the company has explored different formats inspired by that same design.
On January 1 of this year, Xiaomi received approval from the Chinese National Intellectual Property Office for a design patent on two smartphones equipped with a surround screen, which differ from each other by their photographic system.
The first model integrates a display panel that extends from the top and bottom towards the rear. Additionally, it incorporates a secondary display elongated on both sides that would serve to display notifications, icons, effects and animations.
This device has a horizontal frame installed on the back where it houses the photographic system module. Although the documentation does not detail what the lenses are, the sketches show a quad camera setup and an LED flash.
With respect to the second model patented by Xiaomi, this one has a much more rounded upper and lower curvature than the previous phone. It also has a simpler photographic module, composed of three cameras, similar to that of the Mi Mix Alpha.
