Xiaomi 14: Upgrades in Camera, Display, and More – What to Expect

We are slowly putting together a picture of the Xiaomi 14, which will probably not show any major changes, but will receive several minor improvements. In addition to a larger battery and faster charging, we should also expect a significantly larger main camera, an improved telephoto lens, ultra-thin display frames or more memory.

For us in Europe, it seems that the Xiaomi 13 flagships have only recently come out, but we have to remember that they are actually devices that were already shown at the end of last year. And since this year’s Xiaomi 14 series is supposed to be presented even earlier in November, it’s actually a surprise that we don’t have more leaks about the upcoming flagships.

For now, we only know about the deployment of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or a larger 4860mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Plus, the Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station recently also showed us a rough drawing of the phone with mostly last year’s design, which today also adds information about the camera of the smaller model of the flagship family.

Digital Chat Station claims that the Xiaomi 14 will once again have a bigger camera. The current model has a main 50 Mpx sensor with a size of 1/1.49″, while the Xiaomi 14 is to receive a 50 Mpx main camera with a size of 1/1.28″. Such a sensor will therefore be the same size as, for example, the iPhone 14/15 Pro Max. In addition, the phone should also receive an improved telephoto lens at medium distances, which would probably mean a 3x or longer 5x zoom again.

The leaker also adds that 512GB and 1TB versions will be available, and one of the main improvements to the phone is supposed to be a new flat display with ultra-thin bezels. All this in a body with a metal frame. So for now, the smaller Xiaomi 14 looks like a smaller but nice upgrade, if someone wasn’t tempted by the 13th generation this year. We will see what improvements the top of the range will bring in the form of the Xiaomi 14 Pro and in some markets the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
