Xiaomi 11T Pro – 0-100%: 17 minutes!

Apple launched this week iPhone 13, which in addition to better battery life and chipset, can also boast major camera enhancements. One of the areas the iPhone 13 did not see any improvements is the charging, and the newcomers support a maximum of 20 watts.

It may sound good compared to 5 and 10 watts, which was previously the norm on Apple’s iOS devices, but it pales in comparison to the competition.

17 minutes …

Xiaomi, which recently passed both Apple and Samsung in the European mobile market, this week introduced the Xiaomi Mi 11T Pro mobile and stated that this is «a new era in charging».

The phone supports charging at 120 watts – charger included in the box – and is so fast that Xiaomi says that they do not want to refer to it as fast charging, but instead uses “HyperCharge”.

With the 120 watt charger, it should take 17 minutes (!) To charge the 5000 mAh-sized battery from 0 to 100 percent.

Xiaomi does point out that the results come from laboratory tests, but there are already tests out there that actually have better results. The TechRadar website writes that they have registered charging times all the way down to 15 minutes.

To prevent the battery from being damaged or overheated during fast charging, Xiaomi has implemented 35 safety mechanisms in the charging technology, which is certified by the German company TÜV Rheinland. The company guarantees at least 80 percent capacity after 800 charging cycles – in comparison, Apple guarantees at least 80 percent after 500 charging cycles.

At the same time, we know that Xiaomi is working on even more powerful mobile charging of 200 watts, which should be able to charge a 4000 mAh battery in 8 minutes.

Advanced video features

Otherwise, the Xiaomi 11T Pro is in the same design style as the Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro that were launched earlier this year, with a side-by-side camera on the back. In other words, it does not have it powerful camera module on the back such as the Mi 11 Ultra.

The camera itself is equipped with three sensors, including a main sensor of 108 megapixels, a 2x telemacro of 5 megapixels and an 8 megapixel ultra-wide angle of 120 degrees. However, the camera does not support optical image stabilization, nor does the 5x periscope camera that its predecessor has.

Besides the supercharging, it seems that the camera is also a focus area for Xiaomi. With words like “Cinemagic” to demonstrate the advanced movie features the mobile has like Time Freeze, Magic Zoom, create clones of people in videos and film in 8K resolution.

Not IP68

Otherwise, the phone is equipped with a 6.67-inch amoled screen whose resolution is 2400 x 1080 pixels. The screen also has 120 Hz refresh rate, TrueColor, Dolby Vision and HDR10 +, as well as a brightness of up to 1000 nits.

Inside is Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 888 chipset and the aforementioned 5000 mAh battery.

Despite good specifications overall, the Xiaomi 11T Pro does not have IP68 certification, only IP53. In other words, it is not protected against a dip in the water, but can only withstand a splash of water or two.

The IP certification is thus not as impressive as the rest of the mobile, and something to be aware of.

Competitive price

The Xiaomi 11T Pro will be available in the colors black, white and blue and comes in configurations of 8 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage and 12/256 GB with a recommended retail price of 649 and 699 euros respectively.

We do not have the Norwegian prices and the European ones are stated without VAT, but by converting the prices to Norwegian currency and adding 25 percent VAT, it will be around 8200 kroner for 8/256 GB and 8800 kroner for 12/256 GB.

As for accessibility, we are still waiting for information there as well.
