Xiamen Marathon is certified by the World Athletics Federation “Elite Platinum Event”_Zhejiang Online

The official website of the World Athletics Federation announced on the 25th that the Xiamen Marathon won the 2021 World Athletics Federation “Elite Platinum Standard Event” certification. So far, the Xiamen Marathon has become the 13th marathon in the world and the second domestic marathon to be certified.

The reporter learned that the “Elite Platinum Label Event” is currently the highest level in the IAAF competition evaluation system, that is, the highest level of event certification in the world. In October 2018, the World Athletics Federation added the highest-level “Platinum Label” to the original gold, silver, and bronze labels to reflect the benchmarking status of the event in the industry. In January 2021, the World Athletics Federation adjusted the original four-tier system of platinum, gold, silver, and bronze to a three-tier system of elite platinum, elite, and ordinary labels. The Xiamen Marathon was certified by the World Athletics Federation “Platinum Elite Event” and was tied with the World Marathon “Six Grand Slam” events, becoming the second IAAF “Platinum Elite Event” in China after the Shanghai Marathon.

“At the beginning of the competition, Xiamen used the power of the whole city and intensive cultivation to promote the continuous improvement of the level of competition.” Ruan Dunliang, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Xiamen Sports Bureau, said that Xiamen Ma will continue to improve the professionalization and internationalization of competitions in the future.
