Xbox Series X games will be cross-gen – News

The Xbox Series X is expected for the holiday season, and like the majority of new hardware launches, it will be accompanied by a multitude of exclusives to show the different capabilities of the console. But this time, Microsoft has very different plans and announces us an astonishing news: the exclusivities Xbox Series X will be entirely cross-gen during the first and the second year of marketing of the console.

Indeed, Matt Booty, president of Microsoft Studios, confided during an interview carried out by MCV, and announced that the various Xbox exclusives will continue to be published on Xbox One X and Xbox One for almost two years.

As our content comes out over the next year, all of our games, much like a PC, will be compatible with the Xbox family of devices. We want to make sure that if someone invests in an Xbox by then (by the time Xbox Series X is released), that they will feel they have made a good investment and that we are determined to do so offer content.

A joyful news for the owners of Xbox One since it means that they will not be forced to go through the Xbox Series X box to take advantage of the latest exclusives and more particularlyHalo Infinite, whose release is still expected by the end of 2020.

Our approach is to choose one or two licenses on which we will focus and ensure that they will be there when the console is launched, taking advantage of all the features. And for us, it will be Halo Infinite, which is a great opportunity. It is the first time in more than 15 years that we will launch a Halo title in synchronization with a new console. And this team will certainly do things to take advantage of the capabilities of the Xbox X Series.

The new Xbox therefore intends to approach once again what PC offers by offering players games compatible with the different Xbox ranges ranging from the Xbox One first of the name, through the Xbox One X then by the different Xbox Series X models. However, this seems like a risky bet. Players could then be content with their Xbox One and the studios, to develop a single version of their game in order to be compatible with the entire Xbox range.
