From the extensive We know GitHub leak: Microsoft are working on two versions of the Xbox Series X. Presented so far has a version with eight Zen-2 cores and a large GPU with RDNA-2 architecture with 52 compute units.
Now there are obviously details of the smaller variant, which runs under the code name Lockhart. TheVerge has published corresponding information. The Project Scarlett runs the Xbox Series X (codename Anaconda) as we know it and the popular smaller version. Already the leak of the code on GitHub showed two profiles for the Xbox Series X – however, this was also the case for the PlayStation 5 and we only know one variant to this day (the Digital Edition without an optical drive was left out). As part of some documents on development kit dev modes, new details about a smaller Xbox Series X are coming to light.
Apparently, the CPU cores are clocked a bit lower, which shouldn’t have a big impact on performance. The number of cores should be identical to eight. It is more important that instead of a total of 16 GB (10 + 6 G GB) of memory in the smaller version, only 10 + 2 GB can be addressed. It is not known whether there are any changes to the memory bandwidth. The GPU shows a clear drop in performance. If this comes to 12 TFLOPS in the officially presented variant of the Xbox Series X, the smaller version should only have about 4 TFLOPS.
