Today is a great day for Xbox fans. They have officially announced the acquisition of Bethesda Softworks in conjunction with its parent company ZeniMax Media.
It is an honor to welcome the incredibly talented eight developer studios:
Bethesda Game Studios id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and Roundhouse Studios, as well as their passionate global communities and the Xbox family.
What’s next for Xbox and Bethesda Game?
Now that everything is official, we can start working together to bring more great games. Every step of the way, I was inspired and motivated by the creativity, insight, and community focus of the talented people at Bethesda. Our goal is to provide these teams with the best foundation to do their jobs and learn from them as we continue to build Xbox on an inclusive platform for all people.
This is the next step in creating an industry-leading team of proprietary studios, a commitment we have to our community.
With the addition of Bethesda’s creative teams, players should know that Xbox, PC, and Game Pass consoles will be the best place to experience Bethesda’s amazing new titles. Including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.
It is vitally important that Bethesda continues to make games as it always has. We look forward to providing Bethesda’s creative teams with all the tools to reach more players around the world, helping to make future Bethesda titles the most important and popular games in their history. Xbox and Bethesda have a great history sharing a common vision for the future of gaming. Both as fans and creators, Bethesda understands the potential of Xbox Game Pass.
Likewise, we would like to honor the life and memory of my great friend Robert A. Altman, founder of ZeniMax Media. Robert deeply believed in the power of video games and we are privileged to continue his work by joining forces with the teams he created and led over many years. While I will not have the opportunity to work directly with him in the future of our combined teams, I know that his spirit will live on in the collaborative work we do and will motivate us to make this partnership everything he ever envisioned.
It is time to think ahead! And now that Bethesda and Xbox fans are a team, they will be unstoppable.
