Würzburg Bishop talks for the first time on Instagram

At the beginning of Lent, the Würzburg Bishop Franz Jung comes into contact with people via the social media platform Instagram. Discussions between the bishop and President of the State Parliament, Ilse Aigner, the President of the Central Council of Jews Josef Schuster and the Brazilian Bishop Bernardo Johannes Bahlmann are planned on the platform. It is the first time that Bishop Jung uses Instagram for such conversations. According to the diocese, it is about suggestions for the Easter penance in view of the corona pandemic. The audience could participate in the bishop’s conversations with questions.

Talk series starts on February 22nd

The nursing manager at a Caritas facility will kick off on February 22nd. An altar boy and girl scout, a daycare manager, a family and a representative of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) will also be on the Instagram channel “bistumwuerzburg” talk to the bishop.

  • Thursday, March 18, 6:30 p.m .: Bishop Bernardo Johannes Bahlmann, Bishop of the Brazilian partner diocese Óbidos in Amazonia
  • Tuesday, March 23, 4:00 p.m .: Katharina Ziegler, project engineer, regional board member of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) Aschaffenburg
  • Friday, March 26th, 6.30 p.m .: Elke Wolz-Nagl, Head of the House for Children, Caritas-KiTa Gaukönigshofen

If you don’t have an Instagram account, you’ll find the conversations too on the diocese’s YouTube channel. Jung had already offered his pastoral word to believers and congregations as video or audio last year.
