Wrong Sunbathing Makes Dull Skin, How to Prevent it?

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Dull skin is an unhealthy skin condition characterized by an uneven color, tired, gloomy, and not radiant. There are a number of causes for dull skin, one of which is the wrong way of sunbathing, a routine that has been carried out by many since the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

“Dull skin problems also often occur due to the wrong way of sunbathing,” said Mohammad Yoga Adi Waskito, a skin and genital specialist from the Bamed Bintaro Clinic, as quoted by Antara.

Yoga then revealed that the correct way to sunbathe is when the UV index ranges from 3-5, about 5-15 minutes is enough for light skin, 15-30 minutes for darker skin.

Sunbathing should also be done 2-3 times a week and only takes 15 percent of the entire body.

Some choices of body areas when sunbathing can be the back area, both forearms, backs of hands, and lower legs. However, avoid the face and neck area.

“Protect other limbs with the use of hats, goggles, and sunscreen with at least SPF 30 PA +++ that are waterproof. If it has happened
Dull faces, spots or brown spots on the face can be consulted with a dermatologist and venereology specialist,” said Yoga.

Apart from dull skin, acne is also a problem during the Covid-19 pandemic. The reason is that the use of masks for daily activities often causes acne or mask problems in areas of the face that are covered by the mask, such as on the chin, nose, and lower cheeks.

Yoga said that the use of masks for a long time makes the facial skin continue to rub against the mask, so that the facial skin is easily sweaty and moist which is a good means for germs that cause acne to multiply.

Maskne treatment is the same as with acne in general. Some tips that must be considered when using a mask include changing the mask if it is too damp, washing the cloth mask after use and cleaning the face before and after using the mask.

In addition, always use moisturizer to reduce skin friction with the mask, regularly apply sunscreen and avoid using too thick makeup.
