A wrong-way driver caused a traffic accident on the A270 in Bremen-Nord on Thursday night. According to the police, the 81-year-old drove towards Farge. A 22-year-old driver had to evade him at the St. Magnus junction and collided with the crash barrier. The man and his 2-year-old son were unharmed.

According to their own statements, the police stopped the wrong-way driver on federal highway 74 by sitting in front of the vehicle with the blue light switched on and giving stop signals. After the patrol car stopped on the right side of the lane, the senior drove into the police car at low speed. Nobody was injured in the collision.

Relatives had reported wrong-way drivers missing

The 81-year-old was taken to a police station, his car was towed away and his driver’s license secured. Relatives picked the man up at the police station. According to initial findings, the man from Schleswig-Holstein had been to Bremerhaven to visit family members. Relatives reported him missing after he failed to arrive at the appointed time.
