Wrong daughter: WhatsApp scam for 10,000 euros

A stranger scammed a woman in Kellinghusen (district of Steinburg) out of more than 10,000 euros via WhatsApp. The 62-year-old received a message via the messenger service on Tuesday and thought it was from her daughter, police said on Thursday. The alleged daughter asked Kellinghusenerin to pay several bills into German accounts. When the woman was unable to reach her daughter by phone, she realized she had been scammed. It was initially unclear on Thursday whether she would get her money back.
