DFB decides how it goes with the women and the cup
The Presidium of the German Football Association (DFB) is facing landmark date decisions. In addition to preparing for the Extraordinary Bundestag on May 25, the Meeting on Monday afternoon (3.30 p.m.) current decisions on several competitions can also be made. The focus is on the DFB Cup, the 3rd division and the women’s Bundesliga. However, all decisions are made subject to the fact that politics ultimately approves them and enables gaming operations. DFB-CUP: At the end of April, the DFB decided that the cup final could not be played on May 23 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The association left a new date open at the time. That should change now. The semi-finals and the final are to be scheduled. Taking into account the Bundesliga schedule, semi-finals between two match days and the final after the last match day would be possible. As the “kicker” reported, the DFB is planning the final for July 4, the semi-finals are to be held on June 9 and 10. However, the endgame date mentioned would be after the end of some contracts, which are valid until June 30. In addition to defending champions FC Bayern, Eintracht Frankfurt, regional league 1. FC Saarbrücken and Bayer Leverkusen are also represented.
3. LEAGUE: On May 26, the ball should roll again in the substructure of the federal leagues. The DFB has already informed the clubs about this, it should be formally decided on Monday. Two Corona test series will take place between May 10th and 14th, and team training should start on May 15th at the latest, if the authorities approve it. From May 26th there are still eleven game days to complete.
BUNDESLIGA (women): Three days after the 3rd division, on May 29, the elite class of football is set to continue its season. Here only six complete match days have to be completed, three clubs still need to catch up. The championship leader is defending champion VfL Wolfsburg by a large margin. (dpa)
THIS WILL NOT BE DECISED: The Presidium will not deal with various topics, as these are the responsibility of the Extraordinary Bundestag at the end of May. This includes the plans for a two-tier 3rd division, a possible termination of the third division season and the idea of playing games in neutral stadiums.
