On the grounds of the State Horticultural Show 2022 in Neuenburg am Rhein, experts defused an aerial bomb from World War II. The area was cleared within a radius of 500 meters around the site, the police said on Sunday. Around 1,800 residents had to leave their homes. The 500 kg bomb was discovered during construction work for the garden show.
The Neuchâtel motorway triangle was also blocked during the disarming, according to the information. According to the police, people were able to return to their homes after about three hours.
The State Garden Show in Neuchâtel, south of Freiburg (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district) is scheduled to take place from April to October 2022.
