World plus Iceborne remains strong

Publisher Capcom has the list of million sellers (Platinum title) updated to the end of March 2020. Monster Hunter: World – Iceborne – made the biggest leap in sales from 3.2 million to 5.2 million. In the Platinum list, the expansion is now number 7 on all Capcom titles (if remakes, remasters and re-releases are viewed separately). Monster Hunter: World continues to sell amazingly well. Between January and March 2020, 800,000 copies were sold. The total sales are 15.7 million. The Monster Hunt continues to expand its lead as the best-selling Capcom game.

But the Resident Evil 2 remake also sold over 800,000 copies again and has been sold at 6.6 million units since its release in January 2019. The original made 4.96 million sales. Resident Evil 7 accounted for a further 500,000 sales (a total of 7.5 million). Both Street Fighter 5 and Devil May Cry 5 sold 400,000 times. SF5 in particular shows surprisingly perseverance after a comparatively weak start to sales.

Capcom has big plans for the current business year from April 2020 to March 2021. During this period the publisher wants to publish “13 new products” (SKU: Stock Keeping Unit) and sell a total of over 28 million titles (we reported). Resident Evil 3’s remake has sold over 2.5 million copies since its release in early April 2020.
