The capital of Qatar, Doha, warmed up with fireworks for the World Cup. The opening match takes place further north on Sunday afternoon at al-Bayt Stadium in front of 60,000 fans. In the duel of losers, hosts Qatar meet Ecuador in the first match of Group A.
Fireworks fan Martin Bachiller from Argentina was thrilled by the show in the sky above Doha: “The fireworks were amazing. I’ve been to 25 events like this. I’ve been to the Olympic Games in Rio and Tokyo, at the last World Cup in Russia, but I have never seen such fireworks anywhere in the world”.
Wanted: FIFA Fan Festival with Beer Service
And a few kilometers away, in Doha, the world of football was also doing well. Kick and socialize on the “FIFA Fan Festival” in Doha. Open daily, all 64 games can be enjoyed on big screens.
And besides the luxury hotels and VIP areas in the World Cup stadiums, the festival is one of the few oases for beer enthusiasts.
