Jadon Sancho causes a sensation just before England’s first match at the World Cup in Qatar. And this despite the fact that he is not part of the team. Sancho has deleted all the posts on his Instagram profile. Fans are puzzled as to why.

The World Cup in Qatar for the English national team begins on Monday with the match against Iran. But just before the “Three Lions” start the tournament, a player causes a sensation that coach Gareth Southgate has not brought with him to the desert emirate: Jadon Sancho.

ManUnited star mystery: Jadon Sancho deletes Instagram profile

The setter, under contract to Manchester United, deleted all posts on his Instagram page on Sunday and his profile picture was blacked out. Fans are puzzled about the former Dortmunder’s motives. Some see it as a protest against the controversial World Cup, others see it as a dig at manager Southgate for not calling him up to the national team.

As “Sportbild” reports, some English media assume that Sancho is taking a break from social media to focus on the second half of the Premier League. The dribbler is heavily criticized at Manchester United. He hasn’t been able to perform consistently in the Red Devils jersey so far, which is why he ultimately didn’t make it to the national team.

After moving from Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund in 2017, Sancho has become one of the star players in yellow and black. The 22-year-old shone on the right wing, scoring 50 goals and providing 64 assists in 137 games for BVB. In addition to his excellent performances, the young man has also been repeatedly noted for his lack of discipline.

Poor performance since joining ManU

In 2021, Sancho returned to Britain to join Manchester United. After a stable initial phase, his performance collapsed, as did that of the whole team. Sancho has not been able to break free from the low form to this day.

His meager rate for the “Red Devils”: 52 games, 8 goals, 4 assists. Probably due to these poor performances, Southgate completely gave up on Sancho in this tournament. Even at the rescheduled European Championships last year, he didn’t progress beyond a reserve role in the England national team.
