Workers Have Apologized, Banten Governor Must Revoke Report

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) Said Iqbal said the laborer who broke through the Governor’s office Banten Wahidin Halim, during a demonstration some time ago, apologized.

He said the workers’ apologies had been made at the Banten Police Headquarters, which was documented in a video.

“Of course we hope Governor Wahidin withdraws the case against his people. They have apologized. Please watch the video at the Banten Police Headquarters, they have apologized,” Said said at an online press conference, Thursday (30/12).

Said emphasized that the efforts of workers to occupy the seat of the Governor of Banten during demonstrations were not a crime. Therefore, he hoped that Wahidin would not overreact to the action.

“The workers who are accused of sitting in chairs are not a crime. They at the Banten Police Headquarters have already apologized. What else is being asked for? Don’t overdo it,” Said said.

On the other hand, Said said that many labor groups in Banten actually had the intention to report Wahidin to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. One of them is because he calls for the dismissal of workers who are reluctant to receive salaries according to the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) set by the provincial government.

However, Said asked the workers in Banten to wait first. He hopes this can be resolved amicably.

“There are many issues with allegations of irregularities in governing, perhaps, acts against the law, calling for the dismissal of workers if they do not want to receive a salary of 2.5 million. That is against the law. That is a serious matter,” he said.

In addition, Said also confirmed that labor associations throughout Banten planned to hold demonstrations in front of the governor’s office starting January 5, 2022. They demanded a revised increase in the city/district minimum wage (UMK).

“The value is around 5-6 percent. The action against the minimum wage remains orderly, constitutional. And I ask Banten’s friends not to repeat what happened yesterday,” said Said.

For information, Wahidin Halim’s team of attorneys, Asep Abdullah Busro, is considering withdrawing the report at the Banten Police regarding the case of workers breaking into and occupying work spaces during demonstrations.

If the worker submits a written apology for the act, he continued, his client will consider withdrawing the report.

“As well as promising to control his subordinates not to commit acts of anarchism, not to insult and or corner the governor’s legal position, of course the governor will wisely and wisely consider revocation of the report,” said Asep in a written statement, Thursday (30/12). .
