This is good news for the Alstom site in Belfort: one of the intergovernmental agreements signed between Ukraine and France concerns the supply of 130 electric locomotives (for an amount of 880 million euros). This order will largely benefit Alstom’s Belfort site.

Agreement finalized in Kiev
The agreement was finalized this Thursday at the end of the morning in Kiev by the Minister of the Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, and the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Denys Chmyhal, in the presence of the CEO of Alstom Henri Poupart-Lafarge.
This project would represent the securing of around 150 jobs at Alstom and 600 jobs at suppliers

“This contract will help maintain a sufficient level of load to achieve the sustainability of industrial activity on the Belfort site after the end of the export contracts for Morocco, India or Switzerland”, indicates Bruno Le Maire.
Maintenance provided by Alstom
“This project would represent the securing of around 150 jobs (including 110 in Belfort) over six to seven years at Alstom and 600 jobs at suppliers”, he adds.
“In addition to the supply of locomotives, Alstom would also offer the associated complete maintenance, which would be carried out locally, in the depots of the Ukrainian railways”, Alstom indicates this Thursday morning in a press release.
Alstom indicates that it is ready, within the framework of this agreement, to locate “up to 35% of the production and maintenance of locomotives in Ukraine”.
