In Vinkeveen, a wooden bridge was broken into several pieces in a traffic accident. Photos show that two parts of the pedestrian bridge are in the water; a third is still more or less intact on shore.
The accident was on a road that runs parallel to a ditch on Sunday evening. According to a local news photographer, a car had come off the road, hit a lamp post and then crashed into the bridge. The car is half in the water. The driver would not be injured.
The news photographer further reports that the driver had been drinking and was arrested. The police have not yet released anything about the accident.
The wooden bridge connected the public road with a garden and grassland plot. The bridge was not open to the public.
