Woman taken from radio tower in Bemmel after hours

A young woman spent hours at the top of a cell tower in Bemmel this afternoon. Several emergency services were on site at the end of the afternoon to get her out of the mast. Eventually she was safely brought down with the help of a large crane.

The woman was taken to the office. The police will talk to her there. Nothing is known yet about her motive.

According to the police, the office is first looking at whether the woman is confused and needs help. Police are not assuming a connection with the recent arson in radio masts, a spokesman said.

Those were probably actions against the rollout of the fast 5G network. Opponents say the 5G cell towers contribute to the spread of the coronavirus, but there is no scientific evidence to support this.
