Woman pushed down the stairs of the metro in Paris: the perpetrator expelled from France

The incident had provoked strong reactions, until the intervention of the Minister for Citizenship Marlène Schiappa, who had denounced “inadmissible facts”. A video posted on social networks on April 17 showed a man violently pushing a woman down the stairs of the Porte de la Chapelle metro in Paris (18th century).

The perpetrator, of Spanish nationality and “under an obligation to leave the territory”, was deported to Spain on May 2, said the police headquarters on Monday. It is now “forbidden to enter and stay on French territory”.

After the video was broadcast, an investigation was opened and entrusted to the local police station. The police had invited the victim to come and file a complaint and the latter had presented himself to the Regional Transport Security (SRT), according to a police source. The next day, a man was arrested in a Roma camp in the town of Osny (Val-d’Oise).

The facts go back to April 16

The victim, who claimed that the events took place on April 16, explained that he had borrowed a phone from an acquaintance, before receiving a call from a third party claiming to be the owner of the device and wanting to recover it. The appointment would therefore have been made the same evening, at 7:30 p.m., at the Porte de la Chapelle metro station.
