VfL Wolfsburg has not won four competitive games in a row. Coach Niko Kovac still demands a win against the cup winner and Champions League participant RB Leipzig.

“It is important that we convert the games back into something countable. If you want to go up, you should win this game. If we want to stay where we are, we should win it. Because the clubs are pushing from behind,” said the 51-year-old at the press conference before the home game in the Bundesliga (Saturday, 3:30 p.m. / Sky).

Wolfsburg have recently lost touch with the Europa League places. The gap to sixth place is currently five points. But now the European Cup contenders Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Union Berlin are coming to the Volkswagen Arena one after the other. “We want to make sure that we stay tuned for as long as possible,” said Kovac about the first six places. “I don’t think that will be decided in the next five games. But you have to score if you want to stay up there.”
