Dāvis Bertāns will continue to fit into the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) team’s Washington Wizards model, the unit manager told ESPN journalist Zeka Louva in a podcast Tommy Shepard.
As the free agent market approached, some North American media reported this week that several teams were ready to enter into deals to acquire Bertane.
On Monday, NBC reports that several teams are ready to sign and trade deals to get Bertan, because the free funds are not large enough to make a full offer to the player. Louv said Wizards would benefit greatly from the deal, but Shepard did not go into more detail on the subject, merely stating earlier that he wanted to keep Bertan in the lineup.
“At the end of the season, we said that a new contract with him is our priority in the off-season, and nothing has changed. He fits perfectly into our team and we match his style of play, ”said Shepard.
The general manager of Wizards also noted that Bertan was allowed to play with Bradley Bale.
“He proved to the whole league that he is one of the best throwers in the NBA. We add John Vol, who can play well. The team will be difficult to cover and someone will be left free – Dāvis will only be happy about it, ”Šepards emphasized.
The NBA free agent market will begin two days after the draft, on November 20, when teams will be able to address players. Contracts will be available from November 22.
In the 2019/2020 season, Bertāns played 54 games for the Wizards of Washington, during which he scored 15.4 points in 29.3 minutes played in each match on average, 4.5 rebounds, 1.7 times, 0.7 times intercepted the ball and 0.6 times blocked the opponents’ shots.
Wizards Orlando played eight regular championship games, but did not make the play-off.
It has already been reported that the NBA Players Association (NBPA) has voted to prepare for the start of next season on December 22.
