JAKARTA, KOMPAS. TV President Joko Widodo or Jokowi asked TNI-Polri officers to discipline themselves in group WhatsApp (WA) application conversations.

Responding to this, a member of the Defense Commission of the DPR RI, Effendi Simbolon, said that communication in the TNI-Polri Group WA was indeed very free.

According to Effendi’s observation, the free communication has occurred at least for the last 8 years. In fact, according to Effendi, the issue of debate in these various groups is the same as in civil society.

“At least this is the 8th year, free communication between active TNI and Polri, their families, with nuances that are not tupoksi (main tasks and functions),” said Effendi Simbolon when he was a resource person at Sapa Indonesia Program Kompas TV NightMonday (3/1/2022).

According to Effendi, President Jokowi has known this for a long time. Because according to him, the president must get an intelligence report every day.

“Without the need to enter the WhatsApp group, the president would have known (what was discussed), and this has been going on for a long time,” said Effendi.

The PDIP politician said that many things were discussed in these WhatsApp groups, including commenting on state policies.
