“Within days” of Phase 3, cabinet sees saturation risk in hospitals

By ensuring that they are days away from declaring the phase 3 of the pandemic Covid-19 coronavirus, members of the health cabinet reported that four areas of the country have been identified where there is a risk of saturation of beds in hospitals for infected people and these are in Tijuana, Baja California; Culiacán, Sinaloa; the Metropolitan Area of the Valley of Mexico and Monclova, Coahuila.

Leaving the more than two-hour meeting with the President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the National Palace, Zoé Robledo, CEO of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), reported that 18 thousand health workers need to be hired to attend the critical phase of coronavirus throughout Mexico and only half have been hired.

“Also with good wages, we made a call from the beginning, which we are now expanding; there are about 18 thousand that we have to hire. We are already quite advanced, we are in 9 thousand people who have come. We have hired close to 9 thousand people, including doctors, general practitioners, specialists, nurses, all staff, stretcher-bearers, paramedics, and we are still needing 9 thousand more and we are still hiring. ”

-What are the states or zones that the IMSS sees in yellow or red?
– “What states do we see with concern because the saturation of ventilated beds can reach us, which is the most critical patient? We have to take great care of Tijuana, Culiacán, also the Metropolitan Area, that’s why every time a personal protection team arrives, the distribution is not bureaucratic but in the place where it is most needed; We have to cover Monclova very well right now, but those four places ”.

Jorge Alcocer, health Secretary (Ssa), indicated that it is necessary to reinforce the message in the population to follow the healthy distance measurements to avoid an increase in the number of infections, but assured that the federal agency is 100% prepared to deal with cases that arise in the most critical phase of the pandemic.

“We are doing well, it is difficult but at the moment we are at 100%, the perspective is that throughout April, the rest of April we are doing well and all the actions for May are being reinforced, where the adaptation of hospitals and let’s have no problem. “

“Everything is 100% open and of course depending on how the curve goes. And we were pointing out that it is necessary to reinforce the measures of healthy distance, not going out these days. You can see it yourself, there is a lot of traffic, people come out and we cannot have that, which is a very respectable attitude to continue it for a maximum of four weeks ”.

-About phase 3 ?, he was asked.
– “We are about to announce it, but not yet, a matter of days,” he said before leaving.
